Rasa Todosijević arives on the Belgrade art scene in the late sixties. Together with a group of young artists gathered around Students Cultural Center he was soon recognized as one of the leading makers of a new, post-object or conceptual art. In the contemporary situation, oriented towards painting, sculpture and graphics and tied to traditional media Rasa Todosijevic began to deal with performance, photography, video, whit artistic objects of non-material or, in the most radical cases, he deliberately used his body as a subject and object of artistic expression. This genuine and profound break with old practices was stimulating the creation of a new art language and new optics in view of the world culture. However, the “new media” and a new art form for which Todosijevic stands, face a sharp and rigid resistance of the social and cultural environment which was used to socialist realism. Instead of aestheticizing of policy Todosijevic oriented towarsd the politicization of art and to sharp criticism of unquestionable paradigm of the dominant culture. With such attitudes, unaffordable for young artists at the beginning of his career, he gradually acquires more than a notable reputation in the international art scene.
