06.10.2009. – 21.10.2009.
The exhibition is titled “Mephisto” and will be open with a performance that relies on the chess game of Gary Kasparov and the IBM Deep Blue Computer from 1997 called “Man vs machine”. The artist will draw strokes like moves were in their match and create a unique abstract drawing. The performance of creating this artwork will be followed by chess game video projections. Drawing became a symbol of philosophical questions – whether the machine can beat people’s intelligence? In this game the answer is yes. IBM Deep Blue wins Kasaparov. This fact leads us to the fact that we clearly see the meaning of today’s rapid development of technology and the sense of human existence – Mephisto! as Era Milivojevic said. The artist is conveyed chess moves on the canvas and came to the purified geometric abstraction. By this action he tried to break the absurdity in which the art would be found if we comprehend the fact that machines can beat human. The exhibition consists of six images, one of which will be done during a performance. In addition to these canvases Era will present a series of photographs that will present his ideas, notes and scatches for his work. This performance and exhibition will complete the various segments of Era’s many years of work and will show artist’s searching and facing in a time where the creation surpasses a man himself. What if machines start to play among themselves?
