Lazar Vujaklija was born in 1914. in Vienna. He was self-taught, he didn’t finish any art school, except the course he took with Petar Dobrović. Up to 1952, he had his first solo exhibition, as a graphic artist. He had a group exhibition with the group “Samostalni” (“Independent”) the same year. He mostly did color graphic prints, later he did oil on canvas paintings and tapestries. Miodrag B. Protić described Vujaklija’s art as “Naive Expressionism” or “Expressionism of Naive Symbols”. He died in 1995.
