Projectism by Vladan Radovanovic

Belgrade multimedial artist Vladan Radovanovic graduated at the Belgrade Music Academy, in the class of Professor Milenko Zivkovic. He initiated the founding of the electronic studio of national radio station and manage it for nearly three decades. Radovanovic was one of the founders of the art group MEDIALA. In early nineties he designed and established an open group SINTUM. Currently he is working as a professor of multimedial arts at the Belgrade University of Art. Among the first neo-avant-garde in this region, in early fifties Radovanovic worked in various arts and experimented in various media. He was the first in Yugoslavia to deal with communicating ideas through the skin and composing minimal music.

 

Arte Gallery exhibition will present Vladan Radovanovic’s Projectism with major works created from 1954 to 2008. The exhibits are displayed as objects, sounds and video works. The peculiarity of this art is a high degree of mental work and reducing of importance of the aesthetic and formal. Although these works are not uniform in terms of their properties, they manifest mental and thought characteristics significantly before the advent of conceptual art.  These characteristics are the predominance of linguistic and the related self-reflection, tautology as an element, degeneration of formal and, generally, degeneration of aesthetic.
